Program Element [EtherGuide Glossary]
A program element is one of the data or elementary streams that is included in a program. With MPEG-2 transport streams, program elements are usually packetized. With MPEG-2 program streams, the program elements are not packetized.
A program element need not have a defined time base. Those program elements that have a time base share a common time base and are intended for syncronized presentation.
