ISO/IEC 13818 (MPEG-2) Standard

Technically, the title of the specification document is "INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - GENERIC CODING OF MOVING PICTURES AND ASSOCIATED AUDIO", with a document identifier of ISO/IEC-13818. Informally, the document is called MPEG-2

MPEG-2 is divided into many sections. The most important is Section 1 (Systems, or ISO/IEC 13818-1), which sets the general systems of MPEG-2 transport and program streams, and ISO/IEC 13818-2, the Video section. Section 3 covers audio, but this section is not employed in the ATSC implementation of transport streams, which use Dolby AC-3 audio.
