System Time Table [ATSC Syntax] |
The System Time table conveys information about the current time, the offset between GPS and UTC time, and information needed to negotiate daylight savings time changes.
The System Time table also transmits the GPS_UTC_offset value, which is used to rationalize the UTC time used by most modern timing systems with the GPS time base upon which the System Time table is based. The current value for this field is 15,
as of January 1, 2009. No change in this value will occur until the end of
June, 2010 at the earliest.
The value for this field generally is only changed at the last UTC second of June or December, and this page will contain the date and time of any future changes.
Stations that use EtherGuide Emissary as their PSIP generator never need to refer to this page, as the GPS_UTC_offset value is automatically changed at the proper time, without any customer intervention.

The System Time Table is somewhat unique among the collection of PSIP tables. It is the smallest PSIP table, coming in at 20 or more bytes (160 bits), and it is the only PSIP table that is not listed in the Master Guide Table.
This page was last modified on August 21, 2009 to reflect the correct value for GpsUtcOffset.
