carrier_frequency [ATSC Semantics]
Carrier frequency is a 32-bit field that transmits the carrier frequency used by the transport carrying the virtual channel.
The use of this field is deprecated: after January 1, 2010, this field must be set to zero, but may be set to the frequency of the station's pilot frequency in the meantime.Per ATSC A/65, Section 6.3.1.
Formerly, For NTSC analog channels, carrier_frequency is the frequency of the visual carrier of the channel, which is 1,250,000 hz above the lower band of the analog channel, plus or minus any offset specified by regulators.
For 8- and 16-VSB digital channels, the carrier_frequency was set to 3,310,000 Hz above the lower boundary of the channel, plus or minus any specific carrier offset established by regulators.
In Satellite Virtual Channel tables, A 32-bit unsigned integer that represents the carrier frequency associated with
the analog or digital transmission associated with this virtual channel, in units of 100 Hz. The given carrier frequency shall be relative to the point in the receiver following block
conversion of the downlink signal; i.e., at the L-band input to the receiver. Typical satellite
tuners are able to lock to a carrier within 1 MHz of any center frequency specified. An
inaccuracy of 100 Hz will not cause any loss in functionality in satellite reception.
