major_channel_number [ATSC Semantics]
ATSC channel numbers are always expressed as two-part channel numbers, but is compatible with SCTE channel numbers, which permit one-or two part channel numbers. Both formats require the channel number to be divided into major and minor channel numbers.
The major_channel_number is a 10-bit field that gives highest order digits of the channel number.
Major channel shall be between 1 and 99 for ATSC terrestrial and cable uses.
major_channel_number is also a 10-bit unsigned integer field in an ATSC time-shifted services descriptor that signals the major channel number where a particular time-shifted service may be found.
